Dr Magdi Bassilious (1943-2012)It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to a most loving and dynamic friend.

Magdi passed away suddenly on 16th November. He was a loving father and a great help to so many. A friend described him as having an “infective positivity”. He was not there to watch; he was there to get involved in every practical way.

On 6th October 2012, Sunday School servants from St Mark's met at the Hounslow Centre for a spiritual day. Father Ishak Henein and Deacon Nabil Ramzy from Scotland gave talks on the verse: "And we urge you brethern, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone." (1 Thessalonians 5:14).

Bishop Tawadros: Auxiliary bishop for the northern Beheira governorate, and auxiliary to Bishop Pachomios (who is currently serving as acting pope). Bishop Tawadros was born in 1952 and studied pharmaceutical sciences at Alexandria University. He was ordained bishop in 1997.

The final three candidates for the see of St. Mark have been voted for today and the counting concluded this afternoon. In a very organised voting procedure with over 98% worldwide representation of all Coptic Orthodox Christians, the final three names were announced as being Bishop Raphael, Bishop Tawadros and Father Raphael Ava Mina.

At a press conference at St. Bishoy’s Monastery in Wadi El Natrun on 13 October, His Eminence Metropolitan Pakhomious, acting Patriarch, and the members of the Candidates’ Selection Committee (which has been in retreat at the Monastery since 4 October), announced the names of the five candidates, whose names will go forward for election on 24 November.
