The final three candidates for the see of St. Mark have been voted for today and the counting concluded this afternoon. In a very organised voting procedure with over 98% worldwide representation of all Coptic Orthodox Christians, the final three names were announced as being Bishop Raphael, Bishop Tawadros and Father Raphael Ava Mina.

At a press conference at St. Bishoy’s Monastery in Wadi El Natrun on 13 October, His Eminence Metropolitan Pakhomious, acting Patriarch, and the members of the Candidates’ Selection Committee (which has been in retreat at the Monastery since 4 October), announced the names of the five candidates, whose names will go forward for election on 24 November.

October 9, 2012 marked the one year anniversary of what has come to be known as the Maspero massacre. We gathered in St. Mark Centre in Hounslow on Friday 12th October 2012 to pray for the families of our martyrs, to remember and to praise God.

We are delighted to announce the launch of our revamped web site.

Even though the previous web site was fresh and completely functional, the redesigned site is packed with even more features! Through this new site, you'll be able to keep up-to-date with everything that's happening at St Mark's, have access to a host of Christian articles and multimedia resources, and contribute to discussions in our new forum. In short, it will be informative, edifying and vibrant.

Please join us for the 40-day memorial service of H.H. Pope Shenouda III this Sunday 29th April, 11:30am-1pm @ St Mark's church. The service will include talks and presentations in both Arabic and English about the life of His Holiness.

It is with sadness and a firm hope in the Resurrection that we share in the news that our beloved Shepherd H.H. Pope Shenouda III has been taken to glory at the age of 88. He held the see of St. Mark for four decades - in the midst of very turbulent times for the Coptic christians of Egypt.

He guided the church with a charismatic personality that affected all who came into contact with him. A wise and conservative father who defended his people's rights in a manner that touched the hearts of many within and without the Church. His character is not one that is easily pigeonholed, a theologian, poet, writer, teacher, journalist, solitary, pastor and much more.

St. Mark's Church Hall, Saturday 17th March 2012: 4:00pm - 6:00pm.
