She said; ‘come and see’. …just like psalm 34 says ‘taste and see’ , come and see means, I have tasted something delicious, I have seen something spectacular and I want you to have a bite too, I want you to come see the wonders I have seen. Nothing more, nothing less.

I have read the story so many times, but this time was the first time I noticed the last line of the story. The people of Samaria said …’we did not believe because of the words that you have said, but because we too have seen him’.

They too, tasted and saw Christ and they wanted more. Because Christ is moreish

Tasting and seeing and experiencing is the foundation of a genuine relationship with Christ. So that’s why you can hear 10 sermons and it profit you nothing, and yet when Moses went up to the mountain to meet God, he came back with his face shining. Because, nothing is ever as good when it’s second hand.

Our God is a God of Revelation, and He wants to reveal and darkness in our heart by opening a window of light; a window that only you can see. He has countless wonders He wants to reveal to you and an abundance of sweetness He wants you to taste. Things that are meant for you, and you alone, but first we must come come and sit in His mighty presence.

So this lent; Hush the hurry and find the Holy.

In this passage Georges Khodr, Metropolitan of Mount Lebanon says:

How should I conduct myself? I should place Him before my eyes and see Him as the existence that makes everything else superfluous for me. I do not converse with Him—I encounter Him. Your face, O Lord, Your face is my desire until the moon passes away.

The key is to encounter, to meet with him face to face, countenance to countenance.

“The LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend” Exodus 33:11

For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known 1 Corinthians 13:12
