"Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us..." (Ephesians 5:1-2)

The great command at the core of Christian life is to "love your neighbour as yourself" (Galatians 5:14). Christ explained that when we do so, by ministering to one another - whether poor, hungry, sick, we in fact minister unto Christ Himself (Matthew 25: 35). We enjoy this great privilege of meeting Christ at a variety different services:

Hospital & Senior Citizen's Outreach
Throughout the year, and particularly on special occasions such as Christmas & Valentine's Day, we visit local hospices, hospitals, and nursing homes. Through singing, giving gifts, and talking with those we meet we hope to share with people the love and comfort which God has shown us.

Homeless Outreach
Many of the youth volunteer with the local charity Coptic City Mission, which aims to support those who are sleeping rough in Central London, through the provision of food and fellowship every Tuesday evening. The hope is to tackle loneliness and social exclusion, as well as fulfilling basic needs, such as food, drink and material essentials, through forging real, meaningful relationships.

Local / Neighbourhood Outreach
Feasts are a time to celebrate, and share as a community the joy of what Christ has done in our lives – through His birth, death, resurrection, and gift of the Holy Spirit. St. Mark's has a built a tradition over the recent years of sharing this joy with our neighbours in Kensington through the giving of small gifts, and hosting various events such as 'A Walk through the Passion', 'Afternoon Tea' and 'Coptic Iconography Gallery'. These have been a great chance for us to begin building friendships with those in our neighbourhood.

Services and events are funded by regular fundraising events, such as cake sales and card sales. We are astounded time and time again by the generosity of those around us, and can see that really it is God who stirs people's hearts to provide for His work.

We hope in the future to grow more in our service to our Lord, taking every opportunity to show Him love by loving those around us from every walk of life. If you would like to get involved in any of these services, or have any ideas about new ways we can love and build our community please get in touch!

St Mark's Coptic Orthodox Church in London is one of the oldest Coptic churches in the lands of the immigration, and one of the first to be supported and cared for by our beloved patriarch, HH the late Pope Shenouda III.
