He subsequently gained a PhD in Surgical Technology from Imperial College London, and has been working as a surgeon, most recently at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital

Dr Morkos is married to Mrs Amanie, and has three children: Olivia, George, and John. He is an active and diligent servant at St Mark church, and in the wider UK Coptic community. As well as serving in Sunday School, he has also prepared and organised regular Bible quizzes to encourage the congregation to study more deeply the Word of God. In 2012, he founded a UK branch of the Coptic Festival, which aims at developing the youth spiritually, while harnessing their talents; the festival has run successfully for the last two years. He has also recently led a small group of servants to establish a church database to facilitate and enhance the pastoral care of the congregation at St Mark church.

Fr Morkos will spend the 40-day retreat after his ordination at Baramos Monastery.morkos-3
