HG Bishop Paul: UKMidCopts December Conference

Bishop Paul, general bishop for mission in central and east Africa, is a small, cuddly, hilarious man whose heart beats for God alone.

IMG 7210He loves because of the love he knows and feels from his Saviour and that pretty much covers all he ever does and says. Sayedna gave a number of talks over the weekend, and he and Abouna Yohanna, by God's grace, answered all our questions at a Q&A session at the end of the weekend.

For me there were 2 main themes in the conference:

  1. Knowing and holding onto the promises God has given me
  2. Allowing God to transform or revive my character

These 2 points were mainly portrayed via the life of Jacob. I won't try to tell you all that His Grace said - I won't do it justice. However, what I will tell you is this: that Christ used Sayedna to wake me up, to remind me who I am to God and what He did for me. His Grace reminded me of all the promises God has ever given me and how my sins never altered these promises. No matter how low or how far I fall, or have fallen in the past, just as with Jacob, God was and will always be nearby, ready to pull me back into His arms and shower me with His blessings. His ways are greater then mine and though I don't always see the benefit of what happens around me, I should trust in the surgery God is performing on my soul, to transform me to be more like Him. (And of course all Sayedna's favourite sayings featured amongst the talks as always; "you must be a giant for the Lord" being in the top 10).

It was a great weekend overall and I look forward to the next one. Hope to see you there!

Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you." Genesis 28:15
