December 2013 Prayer Night

Life is busy and often causes our minds to be distracted, our bodies tired, and our spirits starved. Every month we are meeting for a time of prayer: to be in the presence of the Lord, to nourish our spirits, to lay our burdens at His feet, to seek His guidance and to re-fix our eyes on Him – the Author and Finisher of our faith.

Of course personal prayer is essential to our life with Christ, but there is also a special power in praying together as a community: “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven” (Matthew 18:19). It is also an opportunity to grow in fellowship with one another, to encourage as well as being encouraged.december-prayer-time

This month we are meeting a bit earlier in the month to try and avoid the busy Christmas period and the pre-exam season. So the details…

When: Friday 13th December at 10pm (after the youth meetings)

Where: St Mark Coptic Orthodox Church (in the main church)

Prayer is not a normal part of the life of the natural man. We hear it said that a person’s life will suffer if he doesn’t pray, but I question that. What will suffer is the life of the Son of God in him, which is nourished not by food, but by prayer.

St Mark's Coptic Orthodox Church in London is one of the oldest Coptic churches in the lands of the immigration, and one of the first to be supported and cared for by our beloved patriarch, HH the late Pope Shenouda III.
