Ask Me for Anything in My Name

Jesus said "You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it", John 14:14. Now this is a verse I have heard many times, even used many times to comfort a friend, but I have realised recently, when I am actually honest with myself, I don't always believe it to be true.

Well city mission this week gave us a chance to test our faith.

During sandwich making in the house the heavens opened and it began to pour with rain. We were ok until it was time to leave. Then we realised that one minute outside and we would be be dripping, and more importantly the homeless would also be in the rain, or may not even come to get food to avoid getting wet. So before we left we prayed. We did not spend long but simply asked God to keep us dry. In my heart I was having a little battle. Did I really believe God was going to answer? And then as we said Amen it stopped! I must admit that some of me was still surprised, but through these acts of God my faith is slowly being strengthened.

The night was beautiful, with the crescent moon shining in the sky. There was a big turnout, with more than usual staying to worship with us. Oh, and the rain stayed away until we were leaving! How sweet is our God! What great things He will do, if only we ask and believe!

Well that's it. I hope you're having a good day!
