Teenage life in Church

As a teenager who has grown up in St Mark's Orthodox church I find that I have been thrown into a completely different world; one that is surrounded by many people, events and celebrations.

I find that in St Mark's, people find it is ok to truly show who you are because of the fact that you are teenage life picturesurrounded by others that share the same values as you. It also helps that the Church gives a wide range of activities for teenagers such as the Friday meetings, football, basketball, choir and much more. Personally this was a major boost for me because it allowed me to connect with people I assumed I wouldn't enjoy spending time with.

Being part of an Orthodox church throughout your childhood teaches you many things in life; it gives you a wider perspective on the world and the things around you in your day to day life. Most importantly it makes you grow as a person. This may be different for every person. Personally I found that being part of the Church group I have excelled in sports and enjoy helping others around me.

All of this was made possible through the guidance of our community. Our community at the one and only St Mark's Coptic Orthodox Church is family.

St Mark's Coptic Orthodox Church in London is one of the oldest Coptic churches in the lands of the immigration, and one of the first to be supported and cared for by our beloved patriarch, HH the late Pope Shenouda III.
